This is how we race: The 2019 Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival unveils a headline steeplechase!
Queensland’s most spirited event, the 2019 Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival presented by TAB, will return to the track on May 11 with an exhilarating line-up of racing, fashion, food and entertainment across five race days.
Along with a highly anticipated return to Eagle Farm, the grand show will see the Australasia’s top line sprinters descend upon the city in front of a packed house of punters and socialites.
Brisbane Racing Club General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Katie Churchill, says this year’s million dollar track will proudly showcase the legacy of racing in Brisbane.
“We are so proud of the racing culture we have built here in Brisbane, it is unlike anything you would experience anywhere else, and the atmosphere this year will attest to that,” Ms Churchill said.
“This year’s Carnival will showcase an unprecedented celebratory racing experience and being there to witness first-hand all the live action as it happens, will be pure magic.”
With seven Group 1, eight Group 2 and eight Group 3 races, the iconic showcase is expected to draw an audience of over 46,000, gathering to watch the likes of Redzel, Boomsara and Happy Clapper take their mark.
Brisbane Racing Club Chairman, Neville Bell, says the full racing schedule will attract rare talents seeking to claim their slice of the $11.3 million prizemoney up for grabs. “The Carnival has gained international momentum over the past year and is fast becoming a breeding ground for future winners,” Mr Bell said.
“Three of our races rated in the world’s top last year, so we’re looking forward to seeing new contenders make their debut and welcoming back current champions looking to extend their winning streak.”
Recently dubbed one of the world’s best sprint races, the TAB Doomben 10,000 Day will kick start the Carnival on May 11 with a challenging $1.6 million contest. As one of the best weight-for-age races in the world, the programme will no doubt showcase “bold” endeavours from fashionistas and jockeys alike.
Following a strong suit, the Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup Day on May 18 will see thoroughbreds stare down the Doomben straight for the illustrious Group 1 race.
The Kirin Stakes Day on May 25 marks the Carnival’s first return to Eagle Farm since 2016, and is sure to ignite precious memories on and off the track with the pedigreed Group 1 TAB Kingsford Smith Cup.
The timeless and embellished Treasury Brisbane Ladies’ Oaks Day on June 1 will pepper exceptional glitz and glamour on and off the track with the distinguished Group 1 Treasury Brisbane Queensland Oaks race.
To culminate the premier racing Carnival on June 8 is the TAB Stradbroke Day with the most distinguished race in history, the 1,400m TAB Stradbroke Handicap. Marked as the biggest day in Queensland racing, the main event is sure to see racegoers on their toes, clutching for the win, as new legends of racing are marked before them.
Trackside, Brisbane Racing Club have taken the experience to the next level for racegoers, with bigger and better entertainment, dining options and things to see and do than ever before.
Fashions on the Field will up the ante in 2019 with exclusive new partner, Westfield Chermside contributing to an unprecedented prize pool of over $40,000; ensuring a fantastic display of style, master millinery and pinned lapels. Leading the prestigious runway will be Carnival Ambassador Sammie O’Brien.
Australian singer-songwriter, Guy Sebastian and musical legend, Daryl Braithwaite will fly in to feature as headline performers at TAB Stradbroke Day and TAB Doomben 10,000 Day, respectively
To celebrate the return to Eagle Farm, the Carnival will also unveil its new Trackside Marina, featuring a multi-million dollar Riviera Yacht that will be craned in and docked in the middle of the precinct. The 48-foot luxury centrepiece will provide an experience unparalleled in Australia, transporting racegoers to the French-Riviera for a day.
“This enclosure will provide guests with the most indulgent atmosphere on-course, with free-flowing French champagne, fresh seafood, premium canapés, and live music from the DJ deck, atop the yacht,” Ms Churchill said.
The Carnival will also see the KIRIN Birdcage make a decadent come back with sumptuous catering from Black Hide by Gambaro and a plethora of public activations popping up to excite.
Descending on Queensland for the star-studded affair will be Home and Away star James Stewart,
ie Durie, Mark Beretta and Edwina Bartholomew, media personality Phoebe Burgess, Stylist to the stars Lana Wilkinson, Australian Cricketer Chris Lynn and more.
