I’d like to once again thank you for your assistance in 2017. It was a great year for Rural Aid and our support programs.
Buy a Bale delivered hay as far west as Quilpie in Qld and south to Coolah in NSW and in between,
Hampers to Help put food on the table through our IGA and Foodworks partners across Victoria, NSW and Qld throughout the year,
Farm Rescue delivered 8 trips with over 100 skilled volunteers building, painting, plumbing, wiring, mechanically and more on 25 farms.
The Farm Army now has over 6000 volunteers working and volunteering across farms all over Australia.
In addition we provided assistance to farmers affected by Cyclone Debbie and began work with rural councils on regional development and community infrastructure projects.
A special note of thanks to Dual Australia for their fundraising and employee engagement, Deloittes for their staff who participated in our corporate volunteering project, Red Rooster stores for their fundraising and spreading our message, numerous Lions and Rotary clubs for their donations, David Evans Group, Caloundra Power Boat club and the Mark and Royal Arch Masons of NSW and ACT amongst others.
Our 2018 Plans
Late last year on National Ag Day it was revealed that up to 80 % of Australians lack an understanding of agriculture or have never stepped foot on a farm. To help breach this divide, we’ve a two pronged approach to educate and share our great rural communities.
Firstly we’re inviting 150 CEO’s / Business leaders to visit 3 regions, Cohuna in Victoria, Lightning Ridge in NSW and Mitchell in Qld. During these 3 day weekend trips in February and March they’ll network amongst themselves, work on a farm and discuss rural challenges and opportunities and meet local council and business leaders with the aim to educate them about rural Australia.
On the Saturday evening they’ll all come together Under the Stars with farmers and local leaders, share the new found knowledge and return to our city families with a greater understanding of our rural communities.
The second part of the engagement program is to invite city families to holiday on farms across Australia during school holiday periods for almost zero cost. Instead of heading overseas or staying home next school holidays, get out on a farm and have an amazing experience.
If you’re a CEO or know one you feel may be interested, please share this link with them. You can find out more about the CEO’s trip and holiday farms at www.underthestars.com.au
